Pros

1. Milled face delivers premium feel
The precision-milled face provides a softer, more refined strike compared to insert putters, with consistent feedback across the face.

2. Pure Roll-inspired grooves improve roll
Angled grooves help the ball start rolling sooner with less skid, improving distance control and consistency.

3. Excellent alignment from two-tone design
The contrast between the silver front and black rear is specifically engineered to help golfers square the face at address more easily.

4. Wide range of models and customisation
With five head styles and multiple hosel options, golfers can match the putter to their stroke type and preferences.

5. Strong stability and forgiveness
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) allows weight redistribution toward the perimeter, increasing stability on off-centre strikes.

6. Premium feel at a lower price point
At around £219, it offers near top-tier performance at a significantly lower cost than many premium putters.

Cons

  • 1. Less “premium” look than previous TP range (subjective)
The two-tone design is functional, but some golfers may prefer the cleaner, more traditional all-black finish of older TP models.

    2. Not as tour-proven as premium models
Compared to high-end options like Spider or Scotty Cameron models, it lacks the same tour pedigree and prestige.

    3. Feel slightly less refined than top-tier putters
While very good, it doesn’t quite match the ultra-soft, finely tuned feel of £300+ milled putters.

    4. Visual design may divide opinion
The contrast alignment system works well, but some players may find it less traditional or visually busy at address.

    5. Limited “luxury” finishing touches
Compared to premium lines, details like grip and cosmetic accents may feel slightly less high-end.

The 2026 TaylorMade Systm 2 putter range represents a notable shift in TaylorMade’s putter lineup, replacing the TP series with a more accessible offering that still aims to deliver premium-level performance. It’s a bold move, taking a line that many golfers associated with a more “tour-inspired” aesthetic and repositioning it into a highly competitive mid-price category.

After spending time with the Taylormade Systm 2, it’s clear that this isn’t just a cost-cutting exercise. Instead, it’s a carefully considered redesign that blends performance technology with broader appeal. The result is a putter that sits comfortably between entry-level and premium, offering a compelling option for a wide range of golfers. Let’s delve in with the review.

First Impressions & Aesthetics

Visually, the Systm 2 immediately sets itself apart from its predecessor. The standout feature is the two-tone finish, with a “satin scratch” silver front section paired against a black PVD rear. This contrast is not just for show, it’s clearly engineered to help frame the ball more effectively at address.

From a functional perspective, it works. The lighter front section naturally draws your eye to the ball, while the darker rear helps define the putter’s shape and alignment. For golfers who struggle with setup consistency, this design could be a genuine benefit.

That said, from a purely subjective standpoint, I did find myself missing the full blackout look of the TP range. There was something undeniably classy and premium about that all-black finish. It felt sleek, understated, and tour-ready. In comparison, the Taylormade Systm 2’s two-tone design feels more modern and functional, but perhaps slightly less refined.

However, where the Systm 2 wins back ground, and does so convincingly, is in the face design. The inclusion of a milled face is a major step up in perceived quality. In my opinion, a milled face beats an insert every time. It looks sharper, feels more precise, and gives you that satisfying feedback that better players tend to prefer.

Adding to this is the hydro-blasted finish on the silver section, which is a practical touch. Over time, putters can suffer from wear, glare, and general exposure to the elements. This finish should help maintain the putter’s appearance and durability, ensuring it holds up well over repeated use.

Taking everything into account, the Taylormade Systm 2 delivers a strong visual package perhaps not quite as elegant as the TP range, but more purposeful and performance-driven.

Technology & Design Philosophy

The core idea behind the Systm 2 is to combine milled-face precision with the familiar Pure Roll characteristics that many golfers associate with TaylorMade putters.

Traditionally, TaylorMade has leaned heavily on insert technology to promote forward roll. With the System 2, they’ve taken a different approach, machining the face to tighter tolerances while integrating precision-milled grooves directly into the surface.

This results in a face that aims to deliver:

  • A softer, more refined feel
  • Consistent ball speeds across the face
  • Improved forward roll characteristics from impact

The grooves themselves are angled in a way that helps the ball start rolling sooner, reducing skid and promoting a smoother roll. It’s a subtle feature, but one that can make a noticeable difference on real greens, especially on longer putts where consistency is key.

What’s particularly impressive is how this design manages to retain the identity of TaylorMade’s putting philosophy while elevating the overall feel. It doesn’t feel like they’ve abandoned what worked, it feels like they’ve refined it.

Feel & Performance

On the greens, the Taylormade Systm 2 delivers a very balanced performance.

The first thing you notice is the feel off the face. It’s soft, but not overly muted. You still get enough feedback to understand exactly where you’ve struck the ball, which is crucial for developing consistency. Mishits are detectable without being overly harsh, while center strikes feel clean and controlled.

The milled face plays a big role here. Compared to insert-based putters, there’s a more direct connection between the strike and the feedback you receive. It’s a more “honest” feel, which many golfers, particularly low handicappers, tend to prefer.

Alignment is another area where the System 2 performs strongly. The contrast between the silver and black sections, combined with clear sightline options, makes it very easy to square the putter at address. This is especially helpful under pressure, where small alignment errors can creep in.

The roll itself is consistent and predictable. The Pure Roll-inspired grooves do a good job of getting the ball moving forward quickly, which helps maintain distance control. On faster greens, this translates into a smoother, more controlled pace. On slower surfaces, it helps ensure the ball doesn’t lose energy too early.

Overall, the performance is reliable and confidence-inspiring. It may not have the absolute refinement of top-tier premium models, but it gets very close, close enough that many golfers won’t feel they’re sacrificing anything meaningful, and when you factor in the cost, which we will come to, you definitely will be pleased with what you get for your money.

Models & Customisation Options

One of the standout features of the Systm 2 range is the variety of options available.

TaylorMade has ensured that this isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” offering. Instead, the range includes:

  • 5 distinct head styles
  • 10 total configurations, with each head available in two neck options

This level of choice allows golfers to fine-tune their setup based on:

  • Stroke type
  • Toe hang preference
  • Visual alignment preferences
  • Overall feel

Key models include:

  • Juno – A classic blade design, ideal for golfers who prefer a traditional look and more toe flow in their stroke
  • Ardmore – A mallet-style option offering increased stability and forgiveness

In addition to these, there are three other head shapes that cater to different preferences, ranging from more compact mallets to slightly more forgiving blade-like designs.

These include the other two blades with the Soto and Del Monte as well as the final Mallet in the Bandon.

The inclusion of multiple hosel/neck options is particularly important. It allows golfers to match the putter to their natural stroke, whether that’s a straight-back-and-through motion or a more arcing path.

This level of customisation is often reserved for more expensive putter ranges, so it’s a welcome inclusion here.

Value for Money

This is arguably where the Taylormade Systm 2 makes its strongest case.

At £219, it sits firmly in what could be described as the “sweet spot” of the putter market. It’s significantly more affordable than premium models like the TaylorMade Spider Tour Putter, which often push beyond the £300 mark, yet it delivers many of the same desirable features.

For that price, you’re getting:

  • A milled face
  • Advanced groove technology
  • Multiple head and neck options
  • A design that looks and feels close to premium

In practical terms, this means you’re getting a putter that performs at a high level without requiring a top-tier investment. For many golfers, that balance is exactly what they’re looking for.

It’s also worth noting that the Taylormade Systm 2 doesn’t feel like a “budget” product when you’re using it. The materials, finish, and performance all suggest something more expensive, which adds to its overall appeal.

Value rating: 5/5

Final Verdict

The TaylorMade Systm 2 putter range is a smart and well-executed evolution of the brand’s lineup. By replacing the TP series with something more accessible, TaylorMade has opened the door for a wider audience, without significantly compromising on performance.

While I personally preferred the cleaner, more premium look of the all-black TP putters, there’s no denying that the Systm 2’s design is more functional. The alignment benefits alone will make a noticeable difference for many golfers.

Where the Systm 2 truly excels is in its combination of feel, performance, and value. The milled face brings a level of refinement that elevates the entire range, while the Pure Roll-inspired grooves ensure consistency where it matters most.

Add in the variety of head styles and fitting options, and you’ve got a putter range that caters to almost every type of golfer.

Overall ratings:

  • Looks: 4/5
  • Feel & Performance: 4/5
  • Value: 5/5

If you’re in the market for a new putter and want something that delivers near-premium performance without stepping into the £300+ bracket, the Taylormade Systm 2 should be high on your list. It may be positioned as a more affordable option, but on the greens, it performs like something far more expensive.
